Copperhead Road is a such a great record. A few years ago he was touring and playing the whole album. Now I live in New Haven, CT, which is mid-point between Boston and NYC. This means that artists who travel through here mostly play it for gas money, and no one really brings their A-game as they save it for Boston or NYC (or both). Steve Earle played here and I went to see him because I love that record so much. Unfortunately, I did not have the same experience. If I knew he wasn't so committed to his sobriety, I would've sworn he was using again on that night. It wasn't a rock and roll sloppy show, it was just sloppy. I was pretty disappointed, but everyone has an off night. I remain a fan and think Earle is one of the better American songwriters. Cheers!
