I'd push back on it being a fault.

It’s a fault, not responding, but I think I’ve been trained by experience to think carefully before responding so that my words are precise, exact, and won’t confuse, distance, or piss anybody off. There can’t be “any sad tomorrows” if I answer correctly.

I'd push back on it being a fault. I am 100% with you on this otherwise. Words said must be chosen carefully because they can cut... and you can never take them back. Taking time to respond is a good thing, imho.
